A sanctuary for heart-led healing.
I've always been curious about what makes us who we are — the mind, body, heart, and the unseen layers in between. My path into healing has taken me through psychology, trauma-informed work, breathwork, and energy healing, all of which now weave together in the work I offer today.
I hold a degree and master's in Psychology, a 400-hour Breathwork diploma, and training in Reiki, Somatic Integration, Sound Healing, and more. For over 15 years I've also worked in university teaching and mentoring within mental health and neurodiversity.

My path into healing hasn't been straight or tidy — and I'm grateful for that. It's taken me through psychology, trauma-informed work, breathwork, and energy healing, all of which now weave together in the work I offer today.
I have always been endlessly curious about what makes us who we are — how our minds, bodies, and hearts all connect, and what lies in the spaces in between. For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to the big questions, the hidden mechanics of human nature, and the fundamental "why" behind everything we experience.
I hold a degree and a master's in Psychology, and I spent over 15 years teaching and mentoring within a university setting. My work there focused heavily on mental health and neurodiversity, where my core goal was always to help students and individuals better understand their own minds through a lens of deep compassion and practical, everyday tools.
Interestingly, the word psychology actually comes from the Greek word psyche — meaning "soul" — and I have always loved that detail. My work today is really just about bringing that soulfulness back into the conversation. It is about taking my academic, scientific background and weaving it together with the holistic and the sacred, creating an approach to healing that feels grounded, real, and completely whole.
My own healing journey kicked off over two decades ago when I was first drawn to Reiki. At the time, I wasn't looking for some grand spiritual epiphany — I was mostly just curious. I started receiving regular sessions and eventually decided to train in it myself.
Looking back through my psychology lens, I was carrying a fair bit of old trauma and a solid collection of limiting beliefs that quietly dictated what I thought I was capable of. (Spoiler alert: I wasn't nearly as "sorted" as I thought I was). Reiki became a mirror, reflecting the places where I was still holding onto resistance, pain, and outdated patterns. It was a gentle but firm reminder that before I could truly hold space for others, I had to learn how to hold space for myself.
That initial curiosity eventually snowballed into a call to journey much deeper. I wanted to see what else was out there, which led me down the rabbit hole of exploring meditation and the incredible power of breathwork. As it turns out, beneath all the complex psychological theories and energetic layers, the simple, profound act of learning how to sit still and literally just breathe sits at the very core of it all.
Through the years (and quite a few deep, sometimes exasperated sighs later), I experienced a series of shifts that slowly stripped away layers of old conditioning. Healing, I've come to understand, isn't a neat, final destination where you get a certificate and suddenly have life entirely figured out. It is a messy, beautiful, lifelong unfolding — and I am still very much enjoying the ride.
My practice is built on a foundation of over twenty years of academic study, professional training, and — perhaps most importantly — lived experience.
For a long time, I used to look at my growing collection of qualifications and honestly question the seemingly disparate nature of it all. I had an academic background sitting right alongside certificates in energy healing, breathwork, somatic practice, and sacred ceremony. For a while, I wondered if I was just endlessly collecting tools with a scattergun approach, trying to make sense of everything at once.
But eventually, the penny dropped. I realized that these practices aren't separate at all. The mind, the physical body, the nervous system, and the spirit are all intimately interconnected and tightly woven together. You simply cannot pull on one thread without moving the entire web. Every single training I have undertaken has been a deeply personal journey first, allowing me to understand these connections from the inside out before ever sharing them with anyone else.
Today, I love having this wonderfully varied toolkit. Bringing together this breadth of knowledge means I don't have to force a one-size-fits-all approach on anyone. Instead, I can draw on exactly what is needed in the moment to meet you wherever you happen to be on a given day.
"Healing is like gardening. There is always weeding to be done." And I have found that it definitely helps to have more than just one type of trowel in the shed!
— AnnelieseOur experiences live not only in thoughts but in the body, the breath, and the energetic layers around us. True transformation happens when we tend to all aspects of who we are together.
I'm a science geek and a spiritual seeker. Two languages describing the same truth — creating a beautiful balance of evidence and intuition, grounding and expansion.
I tailor every session to meet you exactly where you are — whether that means deep emotional release, nervous system regulation, or simply space to slow down and reconnect.
If I had to pick the single most transformative tool I have stumbled across in all my years of learning, it would hands-down be breathwork.
As someone with a naturally analytical brain that loves to overthink absolutely everything, the breath is the ultimate grounding hack. It has this incredible way of completely bypassing all the mental chatter and connecting us directly to whatever is lurking beneath the surface — the emotions, the old habits, and those messy parts of ourselves we usually try to just sweep under the rug.
I have found that when we actually give ourselves a safe, compassionate space to look at that stuff, it stops being so intimidating. It just becomes another stepping stone toward feeling a bit lighter and a lot more free.
More than anything, this practice is a constant, gentle reminder — both to myself and the wonderful people I work with — that none of us are actually broken. We don't need to be "fixed." Sometimes, we just need the time, the safety, and the permission to literally breathe our way back to ourselves.
We don't need to be "fixed." We just need to breathe our way back into wholeness.
Here is the honest truth: I don't fix people. Mostly because I don't believe you are actually broken.
Instead, I simply walk beside you. I see my role not as someone with all the magical answers, but as a supportive guide holding a flashlight while you navigate your own inner landscape. Healing naturally happens the moment we finally feel safe enough to drop our guard, take a breath, and meet ourselves with a bit of compassion.
With my background in psychology, I know how tempting it is to try and just think our way out of our struggles. But I have learned firsthand that our heavy stuff — the chronic stress, the old trauma, the exhausting daily overwhelm — doesn't just live in our heads. It gets physically stored in our bodies and our nervous systems. To truly find relief, we can't just talk about it; we have to actively work with the body and the breath to move it through.
At the end of the day, energy sits at the heart of everything I do. It might sound a little bit mystical, but it is also just basic science — we are, quite literally, vibrational beings. My whole approach is simply about helping you create the time and space to put down your baggage, recalibrate your nervous system, and remember the incredible healing intelligence that already lives right there inside you.
Anahata is the heart centre — the meeting place of body, mind, and spirit. The Sanskrit word means "unstruck" or "unbroken", symbolising the pure essence that remains whole beneath our wounds.
I chose this name because healing always begins in the heart. When we return to its wisdom through breath, presence, and compassion, energy naturally rises — restoring balance, connection, and vitality.
"The longest journey is from the head to the heart."
— Sioux Indian proverb
Beneath every wound, your wholeness remains intact — waiting to be remembered, not rebuilt.
When we breathe into the heart, healing expands outward and upward — energy naturally rises toward balance.
I welcome you exactly as you are. Together, we breathe, release, and rise.
Working with me means stepping into a space that honours your body, emotions, mind, and spirit — equally and without hierarchy.
I bring together over two decades of experience in psychology, trauma healing, and energy work to create a safe, grounded, and heart-led approach. I love working with people who are ready to explore beneath the surface and reconnect with their natural clarity, vitality, and self-trust.
Outside of my work, I am a wife, a mum to two wonderful boys, and the caretaker of a bustling animal family that includes Maine Coon cats, rescued rabbits, and a hamster. After 42 years rooted in the wild beauty of the Saddleworth Hills, my family and I embraced a new chapter and relocated to the Northeast in 2025. It has been a beautiful season of growth, transition, and learning to meet the unknown with open curiosity (and quite a few deep, intentional breaths along the way).
I am a born nerd and a proud science geek at heart. I can easily spend hours happily lost in research, whether I am diving deep into psychology, health, and spirituality, or geeking out over the fascinating world of mushrooms and history! But I certainly don't just live in my head. I am deeply curious and quite silly by nature, always keen to embrace my inner child. It is exactly that playful curiosity that feeds directly into my need to get out, adventure, and explore. I love how nature instantly brings me back to my senses. But of all the landscapes I explore, my heart truly belongs to the sea: the vastness of the ocean, the crash of the waves, and the wild coastal winds never fail to reawaken my sense of wonder.
Music and movement have also always been powerful medicine for me. My journey with sound started at an early age attending live gigs, sparking an eclectic, lifelong passion that joyfully weaves my classical roots together with a deep love for rock, metal, and dance music. Having played the flute in orchestras and sung in choirs for years, I have a profound appreciation for the connective magic of sound. These days, I am exploring a more intuitive, earthy path and am currently having fun getting to grips with the Native American flute! This love for sound is exactly why I am still so drawn to live music and festivals — there is something incredibly liberating about being completely immersed in the energy of a crowd, sharing that wild, collective joy, and feeling so vibrantly alive in the moment. I can just as easily lose myself in meditation, shamanic drumming, or the freeing rhythm of ecstatic dance. Whether I am sharing a heart-opening cup of cacao, exploring the outdoors, or holding space for others, I am deeply passionate about cultivating authentic, soulful connection.
I welcome you exactly as you are.
Together, we breathe, release, and rise.

Pause, reset, and reconnect with your inner calm. A holistic Reiki session designed to clear energetic blockages, soothe your nervous system, and restore deep harmony to your mind, body, and spirit.
Whether you are seeking relief from physical tension, navigating emotional stress, or simply craving an hour of profound relaxation, this session offers a safe, nurturing space for your body to naturally heal itself.
We don’t just jump straight onto the healing table; your session is a complete journey tailored entirely to your unique energy and needs.
Your session begins in a warm, welcoming, and confidential space. We’ll sit down together with a calming cup of tea or water to discuss how you’ve been feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is an opportunity to share any specific challenges, areas of tension, or emotional blocks you are currently experiencing so I can tailor the healing exactly to you.
Energy flows where intention goes. Before you lie down, we will take a brief moment to set a clear, personalized intention for our time together. Whether your goal is to release anxiety, invite in clarity, heal a physical ache, or simply surrender to rest, this anchors our session and guides the Reiki energy to where it is needed most.
You will remain fully clothed as you rest comfortably on the treatment table, supported by blankets and pillows. Using gentle, non-invasive touch (or hovering my hands just above your body, depending on your preference), I will channel universal life force energy through your major energy centers (chakras). You may experience sensations of comforting warmth, subtle tingling, visual colours, or simply a state of deep, meditative sleep.
As the energy work concludes, I will gently guide you back to the present moment. We will take our time transitioning, ensuring you feel completely grounded before sitting up. We’ll then discuss any physical sensations, emotions, or intuitive insights that arose for either of us during the session. You’ll leave with personalized aftercare advice to help you continue integrating the healing energy in the days to follow.

The ultimate container for holistic wellbeing — weaving sound, guided meditation, breathwork, Reiki energy healing, and intuitive oracle guidance into one bespoke, deeply restorative ritual.
Welcome to your ultimate nervous system upgrade and soulful alignment. This signature 2-hour immersion is the ultimate container for full holistic wellbeing. By seamlessly weaving together the vibrational medicine of sound with guided meditation, the subconscious power of breathwork, the restoring flow of energy healing, and the clarity of intuitive guidance, we dive deep beneath the surface to clear away old patterns and fully awaken your inner vitality.
This is more than a session — it is a bespoke, deeply restorative ritual crafted to honor your mind, body, and spirit as one connected whole.
Because profound healing requires time to unfold without rush, this two-hour experience flows gently through five intentional phases:
We begin by settling into the space over warm tea. To open our container, we will pull an intuitive oracle card. This serves as a gentle, reflective mirror for your subconscious, highlighting what is ready to be acknowledged, healed, or embraced during our time together.
With our insights illuminated, we sit together to anchor a potent, personalized intention for your journey. This intention acts as a guiding compass, giving the mind and the energetic body a clear focal point for the healing to come.
Moving to the table, you will be enveloped in an immersive soundscape of soothing, sacred instruments. I will gently lead you through a guided meditation. As your mind drops into a deeply receptive state, we will seamlessly transition into targeted breathwork practices. By altering your breath mechanics alongside these vibrational frequencies, we bypass the critical mind, and create the optimal space for deep relaxation and emotional release.
As your breath softens into a natural, effortless rhythm, you will drop into profound rest for a full Reiki energy healing session. During this phase, I may incorporate a drum or rattle to actively break up and move any stubborn, stagnant energies held within the physical or energetic body. The Reiki then channels universal life-force energy to dissolve those released blocks, balance your chakras, and restore your natural energetic flow.
We slowly land back into the room with ample time for deep rest, stillness, and grounding. Together, we will gently unpack your experience, mapping out how to integrate these physical, emotional, and energetic shifts seamlessly into your everyday life.
You are always invited to go at your own pace, with choice, consent, and safety at the centre of the work. Healing doesn’t require pushing or forcing — it begins when the body feels safe enough to soften.
Pronounced ray-kee · A gentle yet powerful form of energy healing that promotes balance, relaxation, and emotional well-being.
Reiki is based on the understanding that life energy flows through all living things — and when it becomes blocked or depleted, it can manifest as stress, fatigue, or dis-ease within the body and mind.
During a session, this universal energy is channelled through my hands and directed where it is most needed, whether for physical healing, emotional release, or spiritual harmony. Reiki supports the body's own natural ability to heal itself, restoring balance and creating a deep sense of calm, clarity, and renewal.
It is a gentle reminder that healing doesn't always require effort — sometimes it's about allowing energy to flow freely again. In that stillness, your body remembers how to restore itself.
A Reiki session is deeply relaxing and non-invasive. You remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment couch. I gently place my hands either lightly on or just above specific areas of your body, allowing the energy to flow intuitively to where it is needed most.
You may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, coolness, or waves of calm and peace. Some people drift into a meditative or dream-like state; others feel emotions rise and release. Each session is unique, responding to what your body and energy field need in that moment.
Afterwards, many people report feeling lighter, grounded, and more at ease — often with improved sleep, reduced stress, or a sense of emotional clarity.
Reducing stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm by bringing the nervous system into a state of rest and restoration.
Enhancing relaxation, improving sleep quality, and restoring a natural sense of energy and vitality to daily life.
Easing physical discomfort, pain, or tension held in the body — supporting recovery from illness, injury, or burnout.
Helping to balance mood and energy levels, and gently releasing emotional residue from past experiences.
Clearing stagnant energy from the chakras and pathways, allowing life force to flow freely once again.
Deepening spiritual awareness, self-connection, and a sense of purpose — supporting growth on every level of being.
Reiki is not a religion, nor does it require adherence to any specific spiritual or religious belief system. Whether you identify with a particular faith, follow a spiritual path, or consider yourself non-religious — Reiki is open to you.
It does not ask you to adopt any particular philosophy or worldview. Instead, it works with the energy that exists within and around you. If you have any questions about how Reiki fits with your personal beliefs, I'm always happy to chat before you book.
Many find Reiki beautifully complements existing spiritual practices — prayer, meditation, or other forms of reflection and inner work.
Reiki can be embraced as a wholly secular wellness practice, appreciated for its relaxation and therapeutic benefits.
You don't need to "believe" in Reiki for it to work. Many sceptics experience profound relaxation and release — the body responds regardless.
A growing body of research suggests Reiki may offer meaningful benefits. As with any therapy, individual experiences vary — Reiki is always offered as a complement to, not a replacement for, professional medical care.
A systematic review in BMC Complementary Medicine & Therapies analysed randomised clinical trials and found Reiki effective in reducing both pain and anxiety levels, with moderate to large effect sizes.
Research in Frontiers in Psychology found Reiki consistently demonstrated a greater therapeutic effect over placebo for symptoms of stress and depression, with high-quality evidence ratings.
A meta-analysis in Systematic Reviews involving 661 participants found Reiki positively impacted quality of life, particularly for cancer patients, those with chronic illness, and the general population.
A study in BMC Palliative Care highlighted Reiki's potential in managing fibromyalgia and depression, reporting positive effects including pain relief and improved quality of life.
Whether you're new to energy healing or returning to a practice you love, I'd be honoured to hold space for you. Every session is tailored, trauma-informed, and guided entirely by what you need.
Breath is life. It is the first thing we do when we arrive in this world and the last thing we do when we leave it — and yet most of us have forgotten how to breathe fully.
As babies, we instinctively know how to breathe fully — deep, diaphragmatic belly breaths that nourish every cell and regulate our tiny nervous systems. Our breath flows freely, naturally syncing with the rhythms of life.
Yet as we grow, life shapes the way we breathe. Stress, trauma, emotional pain, and even cultural conditioning teach us to hold our breath, tighten our bellies, and become shallow breathers. Over time, this restricted breathing can leave us feeling anxious, disconnected, or depleted.
Breathwork invites us to remember what the body already knows: how to breathe fully, openly, and with awareness. By consciously connecting to the breath, we activate the body's innate healing mechanisms and restore balance to the nervous system.
Modern research in neuroscience and psychophysiology shows that conscious, connected breathing can help complete unresolved stress responses held in the body. By maintaining a steady, cyclical breath, we regulate the autonomic nervous system — shifting the body from survival toward rest and repair.
Through intentional breath awareness, we cultivate interoception — the ability to sense internal bodily states — which has been shown to improve emotional regulation, resilience, and self-awareness.
Many breath practices also directly stimulate the vagus nerve — the key communicator between body and brain — increasing vagal tone and activating our natural rest, digest, and heal response.
I guide clients through a range of breath practices — from gentle, calming techniques for everyday grounding and nervous system support, to deeper, more expansive work for those ready to explore transformation at a profound level.
I also work with Conscious Connected Breathwork — a deeper, more expansive form that can open profound pathways of healing, self-awareness, and transformation.
Each session is guided with compassion and care. You are always in control of your experience, and together we work gently with whatever arises. The breath leads, and I simply walk beside you.
"Breathwork has become my anchor, my teacher, and my medicine — a practice that connects every fibre of my being."
Trained with InnerCamp · 400+ hours of study & supervision
At its core, breathwork is based on the understanding that each person already holds the answers within. Through conscious breathing, you begin to access that inner intelligence — allowing healing, insight, and transformation to unfold naturally.
Reduces stress and anxiety, helps resolve past trauma, releases emotional repression held in the body and nervous system.
Increases mental clarity, focus, and creativity. Encourages a calm, open, and relaxed state of mind. Promotes deeper, more restorative sleep.
Supports healthy circulation and immune function, boosts energy levels and positivity, expands lung capacity and respiratory efficiency.
Enhances self-awareness and relationships with others. Awakens creativity, intimacy, and self-trust from a place of safety and ease.
Supports spiritual connection and expanded awareness. Many people describe breathwork journeys as a return home to themselves.
Deep recalibration of the autonomic nervous system, restoring the body's natural equilibrium and capacity to heal and self-regulate.
While Conscious Connected Breathwork is a powerful tool for healing and transformation, it may not be suitable for everyone. Please speak with me and consult your healthcare provider before participating if you have any of the conditions listed.
Because breathwork can evoke strong emotional or energetic release, it is important that participants feel emotionally stable and supported before engaging in deep sessions.
If CCB isn't right for you at this time, we can explore gentler, nervous system-regulating techniques that offer profound benefits in a safe and nurturing way. Your wellbeing always comes first.
